Watch: Former UFC champ Rose Namajunas submitted in 65 seconds by Gillian Robertson at Fury Pro Grappling 6

Rose Namajunas returned to combat sports last night at Fury Pro Grappling 6, a submission grappling event, against fellow UFC fighter Gillian Robertson.

'Thug Rose' is more than competent as a BJJ practitioner and holds a brown belt under Tony Basile. Gillian Robertson is a BJJ black belt under Din Thomas, who is known to have some of the best jiu-jitsu MMA has seen.

Robertson wasted no time in securing the win against Namajunas, forcing 'Thug Rose' to tap in 65 seconds. 'The Savage' locked in a palm-to-palm rear naked choke which left her opponent nowhere to escape.

Footage of the finish was uploaded to Twitter by the promotion:

However, the ease with which Gillian Robertson submitted Rose Namajunas should not take away from the former champion's grappling ability. Of the 11 MMA wins 'Thug Rose' has realized, five have come via submission.

Namajunas is regarded as one of the best strikers in women’s MMA and for good reason. However, her grappling prowess is seemingly inferior to her striking credentials.

Manon Fiorot would be keen to fight Rose Namajunas if she moves up to flyweight

The current No.1-ranked UFC women's flyweight contender, Manon Fiorot, has heard rumors that Rose Namajunas may be moving up from strawweight.

Fiorot required surgery following her winning effort at UFC 280 against Katlyn Chookagian. 'The Beast' will be out until August, and is unlikely to face flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko next, who has not fought since June.

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Fiorot stated that she would be interested in fighting Rose Namajunas should the former champion move up in weight:

"Waiting on Valentina is not an option for me, because I really want to fight in August. I say to everyone, I will beat Valentina. So if I say that, I can win against anybody in the division. So I don’t care who I fight in August. I heard two weeks or three weeks ago that Rose [Namajunas] wants to move up to the flyweight division. I’m the number one contender, so if she comes, she has to fight me."
