WATCH: Get a ringside view of the epic Muay Thai duel between megastar Rodtang and Superlek in Bangkok
Two of the best pound-for-pound pure strikers in the world right now have finally crossed paths in September 2023, as reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and current two-sport and two-division world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 headlined the ONE Friday Fights 34 in front of their home fans at the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a recent Instagram post, ONE Championship published one of Rodtang's best moments in the match, and they wrote its description with:
"Elbow Fest 🎯💪 Can Jacob Smith handle Rodtang's elbows when they battle for the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 169? @rodtang_jimungnon"
The video was a courtside view of 'Iron Man's onslaught of elbow strikes against 'The Kicking Machine,' where he landed six solid strikes on Superlek's head to inflict damage and stun him.
That same elbow strike became Rodtang's weapon to open a massive cut on Superlek's forehead in the opening round of the megafight, which made him taste his blood.
Despite his best efforts, Superlek's knockdown in the second round was the winning moment of the bout because he picked up the unanimous decision victory to hand Rodtang his first Muay Thai loss in the promotion.
Rodtang vows an all-time classic match with Takeru in inevitable clash in the near future
The Jitmuangnon Gym representative is currently preparing for his upcoming defense of his 26-pound golden belt against Jacob Smith in their rematch at ONE 169 on Nov. 8, which will take place inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Although he's entirely focused on the task at hand, the 27-year-old has promised an explosive match with Japanese superstar Takeru Segawa in their eventual super showdown.
Rodtang shared this during his most recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA by stating:
"Takeru and I have similar fighting styles. I can promise an explosive match, in which we go toe to toe. It'd be one of the most entertaining matches for fans around the world."
North American viewers with an active Prime Video subscription can watch all the action live and free on Nov. 8 at ONE 169.
