WATCH: Japanese superstar Takeru Segawa gets no mercy from famed coach Trainer Gae during Bangkok visit

Japanese kickboxing superstar Takeru Segawa dropped his first ONE Championship match against ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 in January 2024 at the headliner of ONE 165.

That world title clash marked the return of the world's largest martial arts organization to the Land of the Rising Sun since 2019. Still, Takeru came up short in sending the home fans into a frenzy after he received a unanimous decision defeat.

'The Natural Born Crusher' also sustained injuries to his leg and upper arm after the grueling match inside the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Following his successful rehabilitation and recovery from those injuries, Takeru is now back in the gym to continue his training.

In a recent video released by ONE Championship on Instagram, the 32-year-old striking maestro flew to Thailand and visited a famous coach, Trainer Gae, to further sharpen his combat sports skills.

The promotion captured the short clip with:

"Burning 🥊💥 How do you keep your workout routines fiery? 🏋️‍♂️ @k1takeru"

As seen in the video, Takeru was doing a modified plank that was guided by Trainer Gae. While he was in the more difficult plank position, he was also receiving solid punches to the body.

This unorthodox method aims to strengthen his core and add more stamina when fighting. Takeru is part of a loaded flyweight kickboxing division, and he can be booked against top contenders like Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Taiki Naito, Tagir Khalilov, and Elias Mahmoudi.

Takeru Segawa welcomes fellow Japanese superstar Masaaki Noiri to ONE Championship

Takeru was hyped last month when fellow Japanese kickboxing superstar and former K-1 Kickboxing world champion Masaaki Noiri signed an exclusive contract with ONE Championship.

This arrival by the 31-year-old has added motivation for the Team Vasileus athlete and even encouraged Masaaki to reach the world together by winning a world title in the promotion, much like they did in K-1.
