WATCH: Jarred Brooks’ world-class wrestling drains game Hiroba Minowa on the canvas
Revisit Jarred Brooks' dominant performance against Hiroba Minowa.
In November 2021, Brooks made his ONE Championship debut, defeating Lito Adiwang by second-round submission. Two months later, 'The Monkey God' returned for the next step in his journey to becoming a ONE strawweight world when he faced Minowa at ONE: Only The Brave.
Minowa was an intriguing stylistic matchup for Brooks, as the former had the grappling skills to challenge the American contender. Brooks shut down those theories by implementing his superior wrestling to secure a unanimous decision win, putting the rest of the division on notice.
ONE honored Brook's win against Minowa by posting the entire fight on YouTube, which can be seen below:
Jarred Brooks went on to defeat Bokang Masunyane by first-round submission, setting up a world title fight against Joshua Pacio. Brooks continued executing his grappling-heavy game plan to smother Pacio and emerge victorious by unanimous decision to become the new ONE strawweight MMA king.
In March, Brooks attempted to defend his throne for the first time in a rematch against Pacio. Less than a minute into the bout, 'The Monkey God' was disqualified and dethroned of his world title after he accidentally slammed Pacio on his head, creating a need for a must-see trilogy matchup.
Jarred Brooks plans to make statement in ONE Fight Night 24 main event
Jarred Brooks was supposed to fight Joshua Pacio in an instant rematch before the latter suffered a torn ACL. As a result, the American superstar will headline Friday night's ONE Fight Night 24 in an interim strawweight MMA world title fight against Gustavo Balart, who is riding a three-fight winning streak.
Brooks has repeatedly claimed he plans to showcase the evolution at Balart's expense. Meanwhile, 'El Gladiator' has bounced back from a 0-3 start to his promotional tenure and looks to secure a life-changing win.
ONE Fight Night 24 goes down inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The August 2 event featuring Brooks vs Balart can be seen live and for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
