WATCH: Jonathan Haggerty’s electrifying speed outworks Taiki Naito’s technical brilliance
Before reigning two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty returns to the Circle on Friday, September 6, ONE Championship is looking back at his entertaining Muay Thai clash with Japanese standout Taiki Naito.
After coming up short against 'The Iron Man' Rodtang in back-to-back bouts, 'The General' bounced back with a unanimous decision victory over Naito at ONE: Big Bang II.
"Relive the Muay Thai BANGER between British phenom Jonathan Haggerty and Japanese striking ace Taiki Naito in 2020!"
Since then, Haggerty has found his footing in the bantamweight division, claiming both the Muay Thai and kickboxing world titles with a pair of highlight-reel knockouts against Nong-O Hama and Fabricio Andrade.
Haggerty followed up those wins with a stellar third-round knockout over Felipe Lobo to retain the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title, setting the stage for his clash with one of the most dangerous men in the art of eight limbs—Superlek.
The two will meet in the ONE 168: Denver headliner when ONE Championship makes its long-awaited return to The Mile High City in the United States.
Superlek ready to deliver a history-making performance against Jonathan Haggerty
Superlek goes into his first shot at Muay Thai gold under the ONE banner, riding an impressive 10-fight win streak in the sport, including noteworthy wins over Rodtang and Thai prospect Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in his last two outings.
Before that, Superlek earned a big win over Daniel Puertas in January 2023 to win the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title. If he manages to score a victory over Jonathan Haggerty—just as he did in 2018 outside of ONE Championship—he will etch his name in the history books as a two-sport world titleholder.
Will 'The General' keep the bantamweight Muay Thai strapped around his waist, or will 'The Kicking Machine' secure one of the biggest wins of his career and bring two belts back home to Thailand?
