WATCH: MMA legend Demetrious Johnson's historic mixed-rules duel against Muay Thai monster Rodtang in Singapore

The first-ever mixed-rules matchup at ONE X in March 2022 featured non-stop action between ONE flyweight megastars Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

With the first and third rounds being held under Muay Thai rules and MMA in rounds two and four, it all came down to who would make the most out of their opportunities in their realms of expertise.

'Mighty Mouse' survived a storm of offense from Rodtang in the opening round to reach the second frame, where his grappling mastery opened the door for a deep rear-naked choke. The Thai megastar toughed it out until he eventually lost consciousness.

In the immediate aftermath of the contest, fans lauded both Johnson and 'The Iron Man' for putting on an unbelievable showcase of combat sports excellence in a fight that truly could have gone either way.

What lies ahead for both Rodtang and Demetrious Johnson?

Now reigning as the ONE flyweight MMA world champion, Johnson has been vocal about wanting to try his hand at submission grappling in ONE after finding success in BJJ competitions outside of the promotion.

As for Rodtang, the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion will defend his throne on ONE 169: Atlanta on November 8 against United Kingdom star Jacob Smith.

Rodtang and Smith fought once before as they met in the quarterfinal of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix back in 2022, which the Jitmuangnon Gym product won via unanimous decision.

Smith now has an opportunity to get his revenge at ONE 169 while also ending Rodtang's five-year reign atop the division in front of a roaring crowd inside the State Farm Arena.
