WATCH: Nico Carrillo nearly Saemapetch to bend the knee in brutal offensive barrage
The bantamweight Muay Thai clash between two top-five ranked contenders Nico Carrillo and Saemapetch Fairtex in the co-headliner of ONE Fight Night 23 card this past weekend has lived up to the expectations.
Carrillo and Saemapetch brought their A-game inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and ONE Championship posted one of the best moments during the match on Instagram, and they wrote the video's caption:
""King of the North" serving up some knees 💥 Who's NEXT for Nico Carrillo? 👀 @nicocarrillo_kotn"
The video saw Carrillo peppering Seamapetch with several knee strikes that inflicted damage and almost knocked him down on the canvas. Saemapetch also fired back in the dying seconds of the opening round with a solid punch that momentarily stunned the Scottish superstar.
However, the relentlessness and power of 'King of the North' was too much for the former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title challenger to handle, as he eventually received a second-round TKO defeat and was added to Carrillo's growing hitlist under the world's largest martial arts organization.
Nico Carrillo received $50,000 performance bonus with victory over Saemapetch
This latest triumph of Carrillo has maintained his immaculate record and 100% finish rate in ONE Championship. Also, he has received the lone $50,000 performance bonus from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong from the card.
Furthermore, Carrillo has virtually cemented his shot for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title regardless of who will come out in the upcoming clash between Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9 on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver.
Currently, the Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy athlete has four wins and has also beaten Furkan Karabag, Muangthai PK Saenchai, and Nong-O Hama in his first three bouts in the promotion.
