WATCH: Regian Eersel exacts revenge against Alexis Nicolas to reclaim lightweight kickboxing throne at ONE Fight Night 25

ONE lightweight Muay Thai world champion Regian Eersel had a world-class showing in his ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship rematch with Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 25 last Friday, Oct. 4, inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Renowned for his all-out offense, Eersel's more patient fighting style made Nicolas extremely cautious with his offense. With an emphasis on leg kicks followed by heavy hands throughout their five-round war, Eersel regained the 170-pound kickboxing crown via unanimous decision.

Watch the highlights of their five-round encounter, which ONE posted on YouTube:

To Nicolas' credit, he approached their ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship rematch focused on landing the calf kicks that led to him replacing Eersel as the new 170-pound kickboxing world champion at ONE Fight Night 21 this past April.

However, Eersel's slower, more methodical approach in the rematch proved how his initial defeat to 'Barboza' motivated him to evolve as a fighter.

Regian Eersel's prophetic words ahead of Alexis Nicolas rematch

Just before trading leather with Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 25, Regian Eersel had a now-prophetic interview with ONE Championship, where he outlined his keys to victory.

'The Immortal' said:

"Okay. So my mindset for this fight is to kill, you know, always to kill. But for now, it's a little less aggressive and more fight IQ like you said. So, I have to think more and not only going forward, forward, forward. So yeah, we must start the fight inside of me, and October 5 (in Asia) for the fight to come out."
