WATCH: Rodtang and Denis Puric's monster ONE 167 kickboxing brawl steals the show, electrifies Bangkok crowd
The co-main event of ONE 167 on June 7 was an epic battle between reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and number two-ranked divisional contender Denis Puric in a kickboxing match, which went down inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Several highlights of this exciting showdown were reposted by ONE Championship on their official Instagram account, as they wrote the caption:
"Revisit the epic showdown of "The Iron Man" and "The Bosnian Menace" at ONE 167 ⚔️🥊 What's on the horizon for Rodtang and Denis Puric? @rodtang_jitmungnon @bosnian_menace"
Since the opening bell, the two striking maestros have marched forward to the center of the Circle and exchanged powerful strikes that thrilled everyone inside the sold-out arena and fans watching around the world.
But the Thai megastar's new approach, which saw him become more calculated, accurate, and patient with his attack, made the difference during the match. He was able to land several significant strikes against the 39-year-old veteran to sway the judges into giving him the unanimous decision nod.
Rodtang calls out Takeru Segawa in post-fight interview, but Denis Puric wants a rematch
In the aftermath of this incredible battle between Rodtang and Puric, the former used his post-fight interview inside the ring with 'The Dragon,' Mitch Chilson, to call out Japanese superstar and former three-division K-1 champion Takeru Segawa for a megafight as soon as possible.
Once this bout comes to fruition, the combat sports community will finally be treated to an incredible match that was scrapped earlier this year due to Rodtang's injury.
However, Puric is not losing hope in a potential rematch with the Jitmuangnon Gym representative because of how competitive their first meeting went. The Bosnian-Canadian athlete eyes another crack against Rodtang in December.
