WATCH: Rodtang goes slicing and dicing with surgical elbow that bloodied Jacob Smith at ONE 169 matchup
The rematch between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Jacob Smith went down as the co-main event of ONE 169 last Friday inside the packed Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and the fight has produced another signature moment for 'The Iron Man.'
Rodtang seemed to have been showboating and playing around with Smith until he found an opening in his opponent's defense, which he quickly capitalized on. ONE Championship posted the sequence on their Instagram account with the caption:
"Rodtang CUTS Jacob Smith with a beautiful elbow 🔪 @rodtang_jimungnon"
'The Iron Man' sneaked in one of his signature elbow strikes that instantly opened a cut under the right eye of the number three-ranked division contender. That strike also stunned Smith and forced him to retreat, as Rodtang acknowledged that he was hurt.
Although the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai king came up short in scoring a stoppage victory, he successfully cruised to a comfortable unanimous decision win from the judges' scorecards after five entertaining rounds of action.
This triumph has reasserted the Thai superstar's mastery over the Bad Company and Thaifist representative, as he now stands at 2-0 over Smith.
Rodtang says he wants to continue paving the way for the new generation of Muay Thai fighters
After his latest triumph, the Jitmuangnon Gym representative is now on a mission to become the beacon of inspiration for aspiring world champions and mold them the right way, much like how he did it.
Rodtang mentioned this in his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson inside the ring, as he stated:
"I want to support the next generation of Muay Thai. Even though I may fight for a few years more and I might retire in the future, I want to support the next generation of Muay Thai fighters to come here and be champions themselves."
