WATCH: Rodtang Jitmuagnon unleashes his brand of ferocious Muay Thai in first meeting against Jacob Smith
Reigning undisputed ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and number three-ranked contender Jacob Smith first crossed paths in May 2022 at ONE 157, which went down inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The fight highlights of that match was relived by ONE Championship in a recent Instagram post, and they captioned it with:
"The first fight between Rodtang and Jacob Smith was INSANE, and they're running it back at ONE 169: Atlanta on November 8! 💥 Who's claiming the win? @rodtang_jitmungnon."
In the video, the world's largest martial arts organization highlighted the best moments of 'The Iron Man,' as he punished the British striking star with vicious combinations of punches and kicks.
Rodtang even opened a nasty cut on Smith's face, which caused the bout to be a bloody affair. Aside from the powerful punches that he connected, the Thai superstar also utilized his patented leg kicks to create some redness on his knees and thighs.
Ultimately, Rodtang secured a comfortable victory, as the judges awarded him the unanimous decision win.
Rodtang says that he has accepted his loss to Superlek from their 2023 megafight
The Jitmuangnon Gym representative is currently preparing to face Smith in a rematch on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Atlanta for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title. Their rematch will be in front of American fans at the State Farm Arena in Georgia.
Rodtang is coming off a redemption win over Denis Puric in his previous fight in June 2024 at ONE 167 with a unanimous decision result. But before that, he received his first-ever defeat in ONE Championship from fellow Thai superstar Superlek Kiatmoo9 in September 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 34.
With how close that bout played out, fans are still jawing back-and-forth on who they think won that fight.
But Rodtang has fully accepted its result. He shared in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA earlier this month, saying:
"I don't have any more opinion for that fight. I have let it go. I know I've made everyone proud of my performances. It's a matter of time. I've always been ready."
