WATCH: Rodtang Jitmuangnon brushes off Jonathan Haggerty's textbook roundhouse in savage display of toughness
Reigning undisputed ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon rose to prominence in the combat sports community due to his savage and aggressive fighting style.
In addition, Rodtang became famous for his granite chin, which he sometimes utilizes for defensive purposes due to its durability.
This toughness was on full display when the Thai striking superstar fought Jonathan Haggerty in their first world title meeting in Aug. 2019 at ONE: Dawn of Heroes.
The world's largest martial arts organization published a video evidence that proved 'Iron Man's' incredible toughness, as the video's caption read:
"Head kick? No problem 😉 How will Rodtang's chin hold up when he takes on Jacob Smith at ONE 169? @rodtang_jimungnon"
As seen in the video, 'The General' caught Rodtang with a perfectly-timed roundhouse kick to the chin, but he just shrugged it off and even punched himself to confirm that he could take as much damage.
Following that sequence, the Jitmuangnon Gym representative even went back at Haggerty with a body kick. In the end, Rodtang successfully dethroned the British superstar to become the newest king of the division.
Jacob Smith acknowledges the importance of winning against Rodtang in their world title rematch at ONE 169
Rodtang's next opponent will be the number three-rated contender Jacob Smith in the co-main event of ONE 169 on Nov. 8, which takes place in front of the packed Lumpinee Stadium crowd in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ahead of that championship bout, the Bad Company and Thaifist representative has envisioned the endless opportunities that he can unlock if he gets a victory against one of the sport's biggest stars.
The 32-year-old contender explained this during his most recent interview with Cageside Press, where he said:
"What comes after that? The prize, the belt, the money, the opportunities. You know, becoming a star in this sport. But all of that could only come to fruition if I beat Rodtang."
ONE 169 airs live from the Lumpinee Stadium on Nov. 8, and North American viewers with an active Prime Video subscription can watch it for free.
