WATCH: Sensational moments ensue at Leon Edwards' Birmingham gym as Bruce Buffer announces 'And Still' at UFC 286

Leon Edwards defended his UFC welterweight title for the first time this past weekend, defeating Kamaru Usman in a highly anticipated trilogy bout.

Unlike the first two fights between the duo, Usman was unable to impose his will with his wrestling and pressure. While it was still a very close bout, Edwards edged the victory via majority decision (48-46,48-46 and 47-47).

A sensational moment at the UFC welterweight champion's Birmingham gym ensued as the gym members burst into celebration after Edwards' win over Usman. On the official Instagram page of Renegade MMA, a video was posted of the moment when 'Rocky' was announced as the victor.

It is worth noting that Leon Edwards has spent the entirety of his 14-year career training in his hometown of Birmingham.

Leon Edwards speaks about Colby Covington getting the next title shot

Following Leon Edwards' successful first title defense against Kamaru Usman, Dana White revealed that Colby Covington is in line to get the next title shot. 'Chaos' was the backup fighter for Edwards vs. Usman 3 and according to the UFC president, he is deserving of a title shot.

However, 'Rocky' seemingly does not agree. At the post-fight press-conference, Edwards suggested that there are more deserving contenders in the division than Covington, who has not fought in over a year.

Suggesting that he should decide on the next title challenger, Edwards said:

"I don't know how that makes sense. [Colby Covington] hasn't fought for over a year and a half. Sat out, not injured. I don't get how he just slides in for a world title shot when there's other guys in the division that have been active, been fighting, didn't sit out. So yeah, like I said, I'm the king now. I have earned my way. So, I feel like I should decide who's next."

Colby Covington's last outing was his dominant performance against bitter rival Jorge Masvidal last year. While Covington holds the No.2 spot in the rankings, he hasn't beaten any welterweights in the top 10.

Considering Leon Edwards' history with Jorge Masvidal, who is set to fight next month at UFC 287, 'Rocky' is more interested in fighting 'Gamebred' in his second title defense.

Leon Edwards won't be rooting for Jorge Masvidal, but wouldn't mind getting the chance to "smack his head off" 👀
