WATCH: Superlek’s incredible run through Rodtang, Takeru, and Haggerty
ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 is on the verge of completing an impressive trio of victories over top strikers. 'The Kicking Machine' will try to become a two-sport world champion by vying for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against reigning divisional king Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, on Sept. 6.
It is his third high-profile match against world-class fighters in a span of one year, with his other two fights coming against Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa.
ONE Championship moved to highlight Superlek's recent run in a recent video uploaded on YouTube on Aug. 21.
Check out the video below:
Superlek first took on Rodtang in Sept. last year at ONE Friday Fights 34. Despite the fact that their fight was contested at a catchweight of 140 lbs, it was all action between the two Thai superstars right from the get-go.
'The Iron Man' made early inroads by opening a nasty cut on the forehead of the Kiatmoo9 Gym standout in the opening round. But the latter did not allow it to stop him from being aggressive the rest of the way, even scoring a knockdown in the second round, which proved to be the turning point in eventually securing the decision win.
Four months after in Jan. this year at ONE 165, Superlek staked his flyweight kickboxing title against Japanese legend Takeru in his promotional debut. The two battled for five epic rounds.
In the end, however, it was the reigning champion who prevailed by decision for his crisp striking that left his opponent's legs black and blue.
