WATCH: Thai megastar Superbon goes flying in pad work session with Trainer Gae ahead of Bangkok cracker against Jo Nattawut
Superbon showcased his athleticism in a new training video while preparing for his upcoming Muay Thai fight.
On September 27, ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon will fight in Muay Thai at ONE Friday Fights 81 at Lumpinee Stadium. The Thai superstar has only fought in 'The Art of Eight Limbs' once in the promotion when he suffered a unanimous decision loss against featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai.
Superbon gained invaluable experience in his first-round war against Tawanchai and now looks to showcase his improvements. In the ONE Friday Fights 81 main event, the former undisputed featherweight kickboxing king will battle Jo Nattawut, who holds a promotional record of 4-2 in the sport.
Per usual, Superbon has been working with Trainer Gae in Thailand. Earlier this week, ONE Championship posted footage on Instagram of him training his jumping switch kick, which can be seen below:
In January 2023, Superbon was dethroned from the undisputed ONE featherweight kickboxing top spot by Chingiz Allazov. Since then, the Thai superstar has bounced back in kickboxing with wins against Tayfun Ozcan and Marat Grigorian.
Meanwhile, Jo Nattawut has earned the respect of fans and fighters during his last two fights. 'Smokin' started with a unanimous decision win against Luke Lessei in a Fight of the Year contender. Nattawut later suffered a unanimous decision loss in his world title challenge against featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai in another entertaining bout.
What's at stake between Superbon and Jo Nattawut?
With a win against Jo Nattawut, Superbon would likely solidify a rematch against Tawanchai for the featherweight Muay Thai throne. It's unclear when the potential rematch will take place, as Superbon is expected to compete for the undisputed featherweight kickboxing strap in late 2024 or early 2025.
It should be noted that ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong has discussed a potential Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix.
As for Jo Nattawut, he will have a loaded calendar in the next few months. On November 8, Nattawut is scheduled to challenge Tawanchai for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title at ONE 169: Atlanta at State Farm Arena.
