WATCH: Thai super striker Petchtanong's brutal body kicks that crumbled Japanese star Hiroki Akimoto

Longtime combat sports veteran Petchtanong Petchfergus turned back the clock in stunning fashion during his November 2022 clash against Japanese star Hiroki Akimoto at ONE 163.

Petchtanong was seen by many as the underdog when he challenged Akimoto for the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship, who was on a five-fight winning streak entering the bout.

Though Akimoto's speed and footwork posed troubles for Petchtanong, the Thai superstar's fight IQ shone through as he targeted the right side of Akimoto's body which was badly bruised when the final bell rang.

Check out Petchtanong enacting that game plan as posted by ONE Championship on Instagram.

This approach would turn out to be the best for Petchtanong as judges awarded him the victory via split decision - making him the fourth-ever ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion.

In the aftermath of the bout, fans were impressed that Akimoto was able to survive Petchtanong's relentless onslaught and lauded his never-give-up attitude.

Petchtanong projected to have all-out battle at ONE Friday Fights 68 by two-sport ONE world champion

Petchtanong will step back into the Circle at ONE Friday Fights 68 on Friday, June 28 inside the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium against Russian knockout artist Alaverdi Ramazanov.

One man who is eager to see the two heavy hitters throw down is ONE bantamweight kickboxing and Muay Thai world champ Jonathan Haggerty.

'The General' told Sportskeeda MMA in a recent interview:

"Yeah, I'm excited to see that fight go down [Ramazanov vs Petchtanong]. Hopefully, I can watch that show there. I'm trying to make plans to go there. I think that's a great fight. I feel like they're both going to stand in the middle and fight."
