WATCH: UFC Hall-of-Famer Michael Bisping slaps Power Slap League athlete in the locker room in a promotional video

In a video shared by UFC president Dana White, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping can be seen slapping a Power Slap League athlete to provide the competitor with some locker-room motivation.

Michael Bisping is currently a UFC play-by-play commentator and is also a presenter for Dana White's latest project, Power Slap League.

In a promotional clip shared by White on Twitter, a fired-up Bisping is asked by one of the Slap League competitors to "do him the honor" and slap him as he warms up for his slap contest.

'The Count' seemed happy to oblige and proceeded to slap the athlete twice as per his request. Towards the end of the clip, Bisping can be heard saying "You're a f*****g psycho" to the athlete who is now fired up and rearing to compete.

In this league, competitors (both men and women) slap each other in the head as hard as they can. After three rounds, the judges decide on a winner. The league was supposed to launch on January 11, 2023, but was pushed back a week after Dana White was caught on camera in an altercation with his wife at a New Year's Eve party in Mexico.

The MMA world has put Nevada State Athletic Commission under fire for approving the Power Slap League

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has come under fire from the MMA community for authorizing the Power Slap League. Journalists and MMA enthusiasts from all over the world have criticized the NSAC for its subpar regulations.

The NSAC has legalized this new violent sport. Where competitors are not permitted to move in ways that may lessen the power of an impending slap, such as elevating their shoulder, tucking their chin, or rolling with the slap. While being slapped, they must keep their hands behind their backs. The commission appears to have placed little to no focus on athlete safety.

Some participants may be seen trembling on the ground after being smacked senseless and being severely concussed. Concussions induced by blows to the head or forceful shaking of the head can cause headaches, memory loss, brain fog, and disorientation in the short term. However, the long-term consequences may be more significant.

Renowned MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, in a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, sought an explanation from the NSAC for authorizing the Power Slap League:

"I still maintain the ones who look the worst in all of this are the commissions, and in particular Nevada. The officials, both the ones working for Nevada and the UFC, who are attaching themselves to this. Because to me you’re losing a lot of credibility, if not all of it, if you are saying that this is something that is worthy of your time, that you want to be a part of, anything like that."
