WATCH: Victoria Souza makes it look easy in surgical Guillotine choke finish of Itsuki Hirata
Victoria Souza and Itsuki Hirata squared off in an intense atomweight MMA contest in the battle between two grappling-based fighters at the ONE 167 card this past weekend inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
But Souza took the victory with a quick submission of Hirata in the opening round of the match, which put her to sleep. This fantastic finish was posted by ONE Championship on Instagram, and they captioned the post with:
"Went to SLEEP 😴 Victoria Souza submits Itsuki Hirata via guillotin choke! @vicksouzamma"
The match started off with an exchange of strikes against each other, as 'Vick's' choice of weapon was her kicks, while 'Android 18' flaunted her boxing skills. It didn't take long before one of them tried to use their grappling technique.
Hirata tried to take Souza down on the mat, but the Brazilian successfully stopped it and transitioned to a very tight Guillotine choke. It didn't take long for Souza to officially take the victory because, moments later, Hirata was already unconscious.
Victoria Souza collected her second win in ONE Championship and improved her record to 2-2
Even before they fought in front of the jam-packed Impact Arena, Souza claimed that she was a better fighter than Hirata despite acknowledging that she was a complete fighter. The Ataque Duplo and Chute Box Floripa representative proved this by putting her to sleep.
Additionally, she improved her record to two wins and two losses under the world's largest martial arts organization. Souza returned to the winner's circle after she received a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Noelle Grandjean on March 2024 at ONE Fight Night 20.
Souza's other victory was against Linda Darrow in February 2023 at ONE Fight Night 7, whom she defeated by unanimous decision.
