Watch: When Jorge Masvidal claimed Logan Paul could easily beat Paddy Pimblett inside the octagon
On episode #322 of the Impaulsive podcast, Jorge Masvidal gave his thoughts on a matchup between Logan Paul and Paddy Pimblett. According to Masvidal, Logan Paul would win against Pimblett in an MMA bout. The YouTuber-turned-boxer has wrestling credentials, along with some boxing experience.
Jorge Masvidal was asked by co-host Mike Majlak for his thoughts on Paddy Pimblett, to which 'Gamebred' said that he found the Liverpudlian to be entertaining. Alluding to Pimblett's current skill set, however, Masvidal said that he doesn't think that 'The Baddy' is on a world championship level.
Skip to 1:39:45 for Jorge Masvidal on if Logan Paul beats Paddy Pimblett:
Here's what Jorge Masvidal said when asked whether Logan Paul would beat Paddy Pimblett in an MMA bout:
"Yeah [I think Logan Paul beats Paddy Pimblett in MMA]. F**k yeah! He [Logan Paul] has the wrestling, bro. English people can't wrestle, bro."
Majlak then asked Masvidal his thoughts on No.1 bantamweight contender Sean O'Malley, to which 'Gamebred' answered:
"I think he's good. [He's a] great athlete. I did see him when he fought [Marlon] 'Chito' Vera, which is another guy I love a lot - a good friend of mine. He got hurt, and then he couldn't continue, right? So, going forth - is he a little fragile or something? Not like mentally, maybe, but physically - is he not as sturdy as everybody else? That's something [that] you got to wonder [about] right?"
The podcast aired earlier in April this year. Since then, Paddy Pimblett has beaten Jordan Leavitt at UFC Fight Night 208 and Jared Gordon at UFC 282. Sean O'Malley fought Pedro Munhoz to a draw at UFC 276 and won a split decision against Petr Yan at UFC 280.
Masvidal hasn't fought since losing to friend-turned-bitter rival Colby Covington at UFC 272.
What's next for Jorge Masvidal?
Jorge Masvidal has had a storied career in the UFC - from fighting in backyard fights to competing for world titles in the UFC. The Cuban-American fighter has 51 fights in his professional record, with a promotional record of 12-9 and an overall MMA record of 35-16.
He last fought friend-turned-foe Colby Covington at UFC 276, where 'Chaos' dominated 'Gamebred' through his wrestling to win the unanimous decision. The fight, however, didn't end inside the octagon as Masvidal allegedly assaulted Colby Covington a few weeks later outside a steak house in Miami Beach.
Check out TMZ Sports' video of the aftermath of the altercation:
The reason for the alleged assault was the fact that Colby Covington took his trash talk to a personal level in the buildup to their UFC 272 clash, targeting Masvidal's wife and children.
Jorge Masvidal is currently being tried for charges of aggravated battery and one count of criminal mischief. 'Gamebred' made one appearance in the court in mid-November. Subsequent court proceedings are scheduled for mid-February 2023.
It is unclear when 'Gamebred' will fight next.
