“We got a little fish” – Rodtang recalls fishing with ‘bestie’ and fellow ONE champ Mikey Musumeci
Besties Rodtang and Mikey Musumeci are much better at fighting than they are at fishing.
Ahead of their respective returns to the Circle on Friday, June 7, 'The Iron Man' shared an entertaining story about a recent outing with his good friend and fellow ONE world champion.
"So he came to my house and I took him to go fishing because he likes fishing," Rodtang told ONE Championship. "We made some bait and thought we would catch a big fish. But in the end, we got a little fish."
Though they may have come up short in their fishing endeavor, both Musumeci and 'The Iron Man' plan to reel in a couple of big wins when they return to martial arts' biggest global stage in a matter of days.
Strapping on the eight-ounce gloves for just the third time in his run with ONE, Rodtang will square off with 'The Bosnian Menace' Denis Puric in a bantamweight kickboxing clash that could very well set the stage for a future showdown in the art of eight limbs.
Mikey Musumeci looks to even the series against Gabriel Sousa at ONE 167
As for Mikey Musumeci, the reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion will leave his 26 pounds of gold at home as he moves up to bantamweight for a long-awaited rematch with Brazilian sensation Gabriel Sousa.
The bout comes nearly three years removed from their first meeting under the Who's Number One banner when Sousa shockingly scored a submission over 'Darth Rigatoni' via a north-south choke. Since then, Musumeci has been chomping at the bit to run it back. On June 7, he'll finally have that opportunity.
Will Musumeci make it seven in a row and score a bit of redemption in the process, or will Sousa go two-up against the New Jersey native in his ONE Championship debut?
ONE Championship fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 167 live and for free via Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime on Friday, June 7.
