"We just did this for the love" - Liam Harrison recalls his early days fighting in Thailand before the social media age
Fifth-ranked ONE bantamweight Muay Thai contender Liam Harrison has been cracking skulls long before the age of digital media. It's actually quite a shame that there's no recording of some of the most epic brawls that 'Hitman' has been in during the early days of his legendary career.
Harrison has been slugging it out in the home of Muay Thai, Thailand, way before 'The Art of the Eight Limbs' was accepted by the mainstream like it is today.
Appearing on the MMA TV's YouTube channel, the Bad Company affiliate took a trip down memory lane and recalled how it all started:
"When I was fighting out there in Thailand, there was no social media. There's no Instagram. I think YouTube was just coming around. But we were doing all this for hardly any money. There were no big bonus checks like ONE Championship gives you."
Liam Harrison continued:
"We just did this for the love, which is why I think I was able to do it for so long."
A true OG of the striking arts, Liam Harrison has certainly paid his dues and deserves every bit of success he has achieved.
At 38 years old, the saga of 'Hitman' will continue on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver.
Here's the interview in its entirety:
Liam Harrison finally gets his bucket list fight against Seksan
At this stage of his career, Liam Harrison would rather go for legacy fights than chase a world title.
The stars finally aligned for 'Hitman,' as ONE Championship granted his request to slug it out with fellow legend Seksan Or Kwanmuang.
This guaranteed all-striking banger will take place at ONE 168: Denver on September 6, live in U.S. Primetime, from Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
In a recent Instagram post, the British icon shared why a match with Seksan must happen. He wrote:
"I've fought Saenchai three times, nobody is interested in that again. I've never fought Seksan and styles make fights, this will be war."
