"We both just shook hands" - Jonathan Haggerty shares how he buried the hatchet with Liam Harrison
Through his career in the ONE Championship, Jonathan Haggerty has become one of the leading figures in striking sports in England. 'The General' has achieved great success and shown what is possible for others who want to follow in his footsteps.
However, long before Haggerty was competing at the highest level, Liam Harrison was breaking down barriers by inspiring others long before all the glitz and the glamor.
The two men had a long-running feud that, in Harrison's opinion, stemmed from a lack of respect shown to him.
Both men shared the card at ONE 168, which saw the promotion debut at the Ball Arena in Denver at the start of September.
During a recent episode of the Sky Sports MMA Club Podcast, Haggerty shared how he and Harrison ended the feud following an interaction backstage:
"I've seen him throughout fight week, but you know how it is with fighters, everyone's on the edge of their seat, everyone's a little bit hungry, so we didn't really speak much then. But then after the fight, we sort of came across each other in the corridor and we both just shook hands and just put [our differences] aside, which fighters should do really. Yeah, but we're good. That's the main thing."
Jonathan Haggerty is ready to move on to the next chapter
ONE 168 was set to be one of the biggest nights in the career of Jonathan Haggerty but it ended up being a difficult moment for him.
After being stopped by Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main event, losing his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship in the process, the Brit is now looking to bounce back.
This setback and him burying the hatchet with 'The Hitman' signals the start of a new era for Haggerty who has a track record for responding well to adversity.
