"We know what we're up against” - Jonathan Haggerty eager to take career to new heights by ending Superlek’s dominant run

ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty knows that he is up against a formidable opponent in Superlek Kiatmoo9. It is something he looks forward to, seeing how a victory over the Thai superstar will take his already-successful career to even greater heights.

'The General' will defend the bantamweight gold against 'The Kicking Machine' at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A., on Sept. 6 in an all-champion clash, which will be the headlining contest of the event happening at the Ball Arena, home of the Nuggets team in the NBA.

In an interview with The Sporting News that came out this week, Jonathan Haggerty spoke about Superlek, the reigning flyweight kickboxing world champion, and the significance of their upcoming bout at this point their respective careers.

The 27-year-old Orpington, England native said:

"We know what we're up against. We're excited for this one. I think everybody's been waiting for this fight, and it's finally here. We're both in our primes, at our peaks, and we're both in the best organization in the world."

ONE 168 will mark Jonathan Haggerty's second defense of his bantamweight Muay Thai world title following his win against Brazilian challenger Felipe Lobo, who he defeated by TKO in the third round.

Looking to end Haggerty's reign, meanwhile, is Superlek, who has been on an impressive 10-fight winning streak, with the last seven of those wins coming inside the last year and a half.

ONE 168: Denver will be available live and for free at U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription. Tickets for the event are available at Ticketmaster.

Jonathan Haggerty also out to exact revenge on Superlek at ONE 168

Apart from retaining the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6, Jonathan Haggerty is also out to exact revenge on Superlek Kiatmoo9 for a previous loss he suffered six years ago at the hands of the Thai superstar.

The two top strikers met in Oct. 2018 in the United Kingdom, with Superlek winning by TKO in the second round.

Haggerty, leading up to ONE 168 told Sky Sports Club:

"I fought him before, around seven to eight years ago, and he managed to stop me in the second round due to a cut. But, now it's the time to get revenge, and I'm excited for it."
