"We need to diversify our interest" - Danny Kingad on the importance of having a backup plan for the future

Danny Kingad knows better than anyone that he can't do MMA forever.

The former ONE flyweight world title challenger has made martial arts his whole life. From the moment he wakes, Kingad has a committed schedule he adheres to every day. Most of the time, it involves training six to seven days a week, training at a minimum of two times a day.

At other times, it's about being consistent with good nutrition habits, sleeping well, and winning MMA fights. However, there's only so much that the body and mind can take before calling it a career.

That's why Danny Kingad thinks it's important to have a plan B in place post-retirement. In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, 'The King' explained:

"As an athlete, we shouldn't be just focused on one thing. We need to diversify our interests so when you decide to call it quits in one of them, we still have other passions we can pursue."

Danny Kingad seems like he will have a long career in MMA. Just shy of 30, the Filipino striker is in his prime years fighting against the best flyweights in the world. In under a month, he returns to action at ONE 169 to take on former divisional king 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes for an opportunity to fight for gold.

ONE 169: Malykhin vs Reug Reug airs live on November 8 for Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Danny Kingad intends to surprise Adriano Moraes with a more experienced version of himself

Danny Kingad is excited to illustrate just how good he's gotten since his last encounter with Adriano Moraes.

At the time, Kingad was just 22 when he went after the flyweight throne in 2017. Prior to that, he garnered a reputation of being a finisher when he added two consecutive stoppages at the start of his ONE career. Unfortunately, Moraes was the first guy to outmatch him in both striking and wrestling to retain his 126 pounds of gold.

But this time, he promises everything will be different.

"Compared to the man who faced him back then, I'm a lot different," Kingad told ONE. "I've gained a lot of experience since that match."
