"We're little annoying kids" - BJJ genius Mikey Musumeci beautifully sums up his unlikely friendship with Muay Thai star Rodtang
It still seems illogical that two world-class champions like Mikey Musumeci and Rodtang Jitmuangnon found each other and have the biggest bromance in ONE Championship.
Jiu-jitsu phenom Musumeci recently revealed some personality traits that he and Rodtang share that not many folks out there can understand. Besides being two of the most dangerous athletes in ONE Championship history, Musumeci and Rodtang are the most happy-go-lucky guys you'll ever meet.
And when they are put together, it's almost impossible to separate them. Speaking to Cageside Press this week to promote his next match, Musumeci explained why they've become such great friends. He said:
"We're both like little kids, we're little annoying kids, playing with things, like messing around."
Besides living their lives to the fullest, Musumeci and Rodtang have two major fights to prepare for. The flyweight submission grappling champion is just weeks away from challenging Kade Ruotolo for the 170-pound golden belt on Sept. 6 at ONE 168: Denver.
Rodtang will also head over to the United States for the second time, featuring on the Atlanta card at ONE 169, to defend his coveted flyweight Muay Thai crown against former foe Jacob Smith in the co-main event.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver and ONE 169: Atlanta are available via Ticketmaster.
Mikey Musumeci lists different forms of recovery due to a leap in weight gain for Kade Ruotolo match
Mikey Musumeci has more than one battle to think about than his match with Kade Ruotolo. The American star is also trying to discover better ways to help his body heal naturally and at a faster rate than usual before his match at ONE 168.
Musumeci has almost been in a tug-of-war of sorts these last few weeks in trying to get his body weight in check before hitting the scales this September. Besides focusing a lot on his diet to get 20 pounds heavier, 'Darth Rigatoni' has another hurdle to overcome - that of his recovery process.
Recently, he discovered a few things that have helped him recover after each training session. He told ONE:
"A lot of sleeping, a lot of walking, a lot of sauna - all these things I'm trying."
