“We Thai fighters are strong” - Superlek proud to represent Thai heritage in America with explosive performance at ONE 168

Newly minted two-sport ONE world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 was excited about the opportunity to represent the art of eight limbs in front of a raucous U.S. crowd.

Stepping into the main event spotlight inside Ball Arena at ONE 168: Denver, 'The Kicking Machine' delivered another highlight-reel performance against British sensation Jonathan Haggerty, scoring an incredible 49-second knockout to claim the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.

Things got off to a fast and furious start between the two warriors, but it was Superlek who came out on top after catching 'The General' with a perfectly-timed elbow that caught Haggerty on his way in.

Speaking at the ONE 168: Denver post-event press conference, Superlek was thrilled not only about his win but for the chance to showcase his skills and bring Muay Thai to the masses.

"I just wanted to show that I'm a Thai fighter," he said. "We Thai fighters are strong and have amazing skills that can be showcased all over the world."

What's next for Superlek after his jaw-dropping KO of Jonathan Haggerty?

It should come as no surprise that the Thai bagged another $50,000 bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong for his efforts in The Mile High City. 'The Kicking Machine' plans to use the money to help support the people who train at his gym in Bangkok, Thailand.

"I want to thank Chatri Sityodtong for giving me the opportunity," Superlek said during his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson. "The money that I have won today will go towards my gym, Superlek Gym in Bangkok. I will use this money to support all of the people that are training at my gym. Thank you so much."

Over the last year, 'The Kicking Machine' has beaten a who's who of incredible talent, including reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Japanese kickboxing icon Takeru Segawa, and highly touted prospect Kongthoranee Sor Sommai.

With perhaps his biggest win yet now under his bet, what's next for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing king?
