“We’ve been working closely” - Superlek enlists sports science expert ahead of epic match against Jonathan Haggerty

ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 is making sure he is all prepped up for his bid to become a two-sport ONE world champion in his scheduled next fight. To that end, he has enlisted the services of a sports science expert to make sure he is battle-ready come fight night.

'The Kicking Machine' will vie for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against reigning divisional king Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A., on Sept. 6.

It will be the headlining contest of the event happening at the Ball Arena in Denver and airing live and for free at U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Superlek spoke about how his decision to enlist an expert in sports science to help him with his strength and conditioning.

The 28-year-old Thai superstar said:

"He joined my team in June. We've been working closely since. We've spent a lot of time together, working on customized plans. We're close."

Superlek will be moving up a division at ONE 168 to realize his goal of becoming a double ONE world champion at the expense of Haggerty, who himself currently holds two world titles, the other being the bantamweight kickboxing gold.

He is coming off a unanimous decision victory in his last fight in June over fellow Thai fighter Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in a flyweight Muay Thai bout.

Haggerty, meanwhile, will be making his second defense of the bantamweight Muay Thai championship belt.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available on Ticketmaster.

Superlek does not see any issues switching between flyweight and bantamweight

Superlek Kiatmoo9 sees no issues switching between flyweighjt and bantamweight in the event he comes up with a win at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6. He said he is up for the task of ruling two divisions.

He said so in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA back in June, saying that while he is comfortable fighting in flyweight, switching to other divisions is not something new to him.

The Thai superstar said:

"Well about being in bantamweight, well if I beat Haggerty I would switch between bantamweight and flyweight. So I would still want to be in the flyweight division."
