"What a beautiful story" - Lito Adiwang envisions the magnitude of Denice Zamboanga possibly dethroning Stamp

It's no secret that ONE strawweight MMA contender Lito Adiwang will be rooting for his fellow Filipino Denice Zamboanga at ONE 167.

'The Menace's shot at 26 pounds of gold has finally come against ONE atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex at Impact, Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on June 7.

Obviously, there are plenty of intriguing storylines for this five-round war, making this one of the biggest women's MMA matches of the year.

Adiwang, for one, is excited to see how a brawl between two former training partners and close friends will play out.

Before representing T-Rex MMA, Denice Zamboanga initially sharpened her tools at Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand alongside the now three-sport queen.

According to 'Thunder Kid', Zamboanga beating her old stablemate will definitely set the entire MMA sphere on fire.

He told ONE in an exclusive interview:

"If Denice will pull this off, what a beautiful story. A training partner before, she beats the champion, now she's the champion. Wow!"

While unseating Stamp will indeed be a gargantuan task, we know Zamboanga is up for it. The versatile second-ranked challenger does have elite grappling to keep the champ guessing, along with an ever-improving stand-up game to match Stamp's world-class striking.

Lito Adiwang says Denice Zamboanga can shake the entire Philippine MMA landscape at ONE 167

We've witnessed several Filipino warriors emerge as champions under the world's largest martial arts organization.

However, there hasn't been a Filipina MMA world champion just yet. Denice Zamboanga has the opportunity to change that.

In the same interview, Adiwang explained how monumental this feat would be if Zamboanga can pull off the upset at ONE 167.

"It will have a huge impact on our MMA landscape because there will be a lady champ. There's also the timing behind it because we've prove in before, especially back when we had four belts in one team before."

Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada can witness ONE 167 on-demand, as it happens on US Primetime completely free of charge.
