Heavyweight contender Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida made a statement in his return to the MMA scene after he defeated Amir Aliakbari in their match last Friday at ONE 169 inside the packed Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Almeida scored a first-round submission win to return to the win column after over a year of sabbatical. The winning moment of the BJJ icon was published by ONE Championship on their Instagram account with the caption:

'Buchecha' imposed his superior grappling skills against the Iranian knockout artist and maneuvered his way into the rear-naked choke technique, leaving Aliakbari no choice but to tap at the 3:15 mark of the opening round.

Marcus Almeida named one of the recipients of the $50,000 performance bonus at ONE 169
This latest victory of the 17-time BJJ world champion has marked the fifth of his professional MMA career, and he has maintained his 100% finish rate under the promotion since he started competing in September 2021.
Furthermore, Almeida was $50,000 richer after the bout after ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong awarded him the performance bonus, along with Kade Ruotolo and Ayaka Miura.
