What is Greenback Records? All about Dublin's first major record label launched by Conor McGregor
It seems there's no stopping Irish MMA megastar Conor McGregor from conquering new worlds outside his sport. In his most recent business venture, 'The Notorious' opened Greenback Records, Dublin's first major record label. This is massive not just for McGregor but also for Ireland, as the MMA star is largely putting his home city and country on the map.
News outlet Sunday World reported on the great news on X, saying:
"Conor McGregor launches Greenback Records, Dublin’s first major record label"
The multi-genre record label, co-founded by McGregor alongside industry partners Richard Buck and Julian O'Brien, is promised to promote deals with recording artists in ways that haven't been done before.
Speaking to Sunday World, 'The Notorious' said of Greenback Records:
“I am excited to create Ireland’s first major record label in an industry that I have had great interest in for some time...To be able to come in and offer music artists a fair deal and properly reward them for their talent."
Conor McGregor believes music industry needs "an overhaul"
Speaking further about his foray into the music world, the Irish megastar believes that the industry deserves a much-needed revamping - something an outsider like himself can bring.
He said (via Sunday World):
"This industry, like others, has needed an overhaul for a long time. I am excited for myself, McGregor Sports & Entertainment, to partner with Richard and Julian as founders to bring Greenback Records to life!”
This is not the first time the former two-weight UFC world champion has ventured way out of his comfort zone. His most famous business undertakings include the massively popular Proper No.12 Irish Whiskey and his local pub, The Black Forge Inn.
Also this year, 'The Notorious' made his acting debut in the American action film, Roud House, a remake of the 1989 film, alongside Hollywood giant Jake Gyllenhaal.
