What's the beef between Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland? Coach sheds light on altercation
Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland almost came to blows at the fighter hotel yesterday. Details of the UFC 287 altercation have now come to light courtesy of Holland's longtime striking coach, Durwyn Lamb.
Lamb was interviewed by @InsideFighting following the incident, and he stated that Holland's beef with 'Gamebred' stemmed from his scuffle with Leon Edwards and his alleged attack on Colby Covington.
Masvidal and Edwards were involved in an infamous backstage brawl at UFC Fight 147 in London in 2019. More recently, Covington accused 'Gamebred' of attacking him outside a restaurant in Miami several weeks after the bout at UFC 272.
Lamb noted that Kevin Holland was a fan of Jorge Masvidal prior to his altercations, and the antics of 'Gamebred' began to annoy Holland. He said this:
"Kevin actually kind of liked Masvidal before that, but I think what happened was is that [Kevin] didn't like the sucker punch deal with the Leon [Edwards] stuff. [Kevin] didn't like the stuff with Colby Covington, and it just kind of rubbed him the wrong way... Some words [were] exchanged online back and forth and then they ran into each other here... [Kevin] didn't like that persona, the way [Masvidal] was carrying himself."

The UFC 287 altercation between Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland is not the first fight week beef that either welterweight has had in their UFC careers.
'Gamebred' famously had several run-ins with Michael Bisping many years ago, and Kevin Holland has been involved in several incidents with the likes of Khamzat Chimaev, Darren Till, and Marvin Vettori.

Dana White shuts down questions about the Jorge Masvidal-Kevin Holland altercation at UFC 287
Dana White is known for his dislike of the media and has launched countless tirades at reporters of the sport throughout his time as the UFC president. White has stated in the past that he believes some media members instigate beef between fighters through provocative questions.
The latest example of this happened at the UFC 287 pre-event press conference yesterday. MMA journalist Oscar Willis was shut down by Dana White for asking both Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland to detail their altercation at the fighter hotel.
White appeared acutely annoyed at the lack of questions about the fights themselves, and said the following:
"Wait what's the question? Guys, come on. [Kevin Holland and Jorge Masvidal] aren't even fighting [one another this weekend]. Knock it off. Do you have a question about the fight? Who these dudes are fighting? Or do you just want to start sh*t in here?!"
