When Daniel Cormier was caught off guard by a fake tweet about wife's reaction to Vanessa Demopoulos' unusual post-fight ritual

Last year, Daniel Cormier was hilariously caught off guard by a fabricated tweet seemingly from his wife, Salina Deleon.

The photoshopped tweet made it appear like Deleon was commenting on UFC strawweight fighter Vanessa Demopoulos and her post-fight celebration.

Demopoulos is unbeaten in her three octagon outings and has celebrated in a most unique manner. She flung herself in the octagon presenter's arms on two instances, once with Joe Rogan and a second time with Michael Bisping.

The fake tweet from Saline Deleon warned 'Lil Monster' from trying the same celebration with her husband, who is now a fixture on the UFC pay-per-view commentators table and coverage team.

The tweet read:

"AHEM! @lilmonsterdemo do this with my husband and you won't make out the arena. TRY ME!"

'DC' was quickly on hand to clarify and dismiss the tweet as fake while also applauding the creative lengths that fans go to for entertainment.

"While hilarious she didn’t say that at all. Some of y’all are so creative I don’t even know how they do that."

Fans in Daniel Cormier's replies made him aware that the tweet was deliberately fake from a known parody account on Twitter, MMAFPress which stands for MMA Fake Press. Cormier admitted that he was even further embarrassed now at being pranked with an edit.

Daniel Cormier praises Francis Ngannou for setting a new standard

Francis Ngannou recently announced a mega deal with PFL months after his exit from the UFC as the reigning heavyweight champion.

Ngannou's PFL deal is a first in many ways as the Cameroonian fighter has secured various key roles in the promotion alongside a hefty guaranteed pay not just for himself but also his future opponents.

Daniel Cormier lauded the former heavyweight champion on the DC & RC show:

"The moment he announced that he was gonna be moving on, you knew that the standard and the bar would be set by Francis. As a whole, UFC is where it’s supposed to be, but Francis Ngannou has set a new standard. It kind of feels like go play less golf for more money.
"Congratulations to the former UFC heavyweight champion on really setting a new standard for what is out there in the free-agent market. It feels real after this one. It makes MMA feel real after seeing what Francis Ngannou just did.”
