"When Obama was still president" - Belal Muhammad belittles Kamaru Usman's win over Leon Edwards in heated X interaction

Belal Muhammad recently downplayed Kamaru Usman's win over Leon Edwards during a heated social media exchange. The reigning UFC welterweight champion has been at odds with 'The Nigerian Nightmare' for the past few weeks in the wake of his title victory over Edwards at UFC 304 last month.

Usman defeated Edwards in their first clash in December 2015 via unanimous decision. The two threw down in a title rematch in August 2022, where the Englishman secured a spectacular final-round knockout victory to clinch the 170-pound strap. Edwards then outpointed Usman in their trilogy fight in March 2023.

Since Edwards' title loss last month, Usman has been hinting at a return to action and trading shots with the new welterweight king. During one of their fiery exchanges on X, Usman dismissed Muhammad's legacy as a fighter and wrote:

"Alright enough of the nice guy... You were never chasing me Bum. You were barely in the rankings when I dominated the division. FYI, I have a win over Leon, son."

In response, Muhammad took a shot at Usman's acting gig in Marvel's 'Black Panther' and wrote:

"Dominated the division? U beat Masvidal twice and went to cardio kickboxing war with Colby twice (Colby sucks). U were protected by UFC... now u can barely walk... Your podcast sucks... And ur part in Black Panther sucked."

'Remember The Name' later posted another message addressing Usman's win over Edwards and urged the former 170-pound king to "stop living in the past". He wrote:

"Wait a minute, I just noticed your last line. You beat Leon when [Barack] Obama was still president... Stop living in the past, your knees still had cartilage back then."

Belal Muhammad trolls Kamaru Usman over 'Black Panther' casting

During the same X exchange, Belal Muhammad continued to take shots at Kamaru Usman's 'Black Panther' role. After trashing Usman's part in the movie, Muhammad continued to troll the former UFC welterweight champ's acting skills.

After Muhammad brought up the 'Black Panther' movie, Usman fired back at 'Remember The Name' in an X post and wrote:

"Lol, glad you watched me in BP. Unfortunately no one wants to watch you fight much less put you in a movie."

Muhammad doubled down on his criticism of Usman's role in the superhero film and took shots at 'The Nigerian Nightmare's' striking skills. He wrote:

"You were a background character in a movie about fighting... They must’ve seen your striking and decided no fight scenes."
