When UFC 282 star Bryce Mitchell shared a bizarre reason for always wearing boots on an airplane – "I always assume there is about four of 'em"

Bryce Mitchell is set to face the mercurial Ilia Topuria at UFC 282 this weekend in the opening fight of the main card. However, it has recently come to light that 'Thug Nasty' not only prepares for his enemies inside the cage, but also outside of it.

Mitchell appeared on an episode of Theo Von's podcast, This Past Weekend, in 2019.

In the episode, 'Thug Nasty' admitted that he always wears a specific pair of boots when he travels on an aeroplane. According to Mitchell, his boots would come in handy if a terrorist attack took place:

"You know why I always wear my boots on a plane? Right when I get on I'm looking for terrorists. I always assume there's about four of 'em... I'm looking for the four ones that are gonna pop up. Those are the motherf***ers I'm dropping first... I've got a boot, I'm going BOOM right to the nuts."

Bryce Mitchell claims a victory over Ilia Topuria won't get him closer to a title shot

Bryce Mitchell is set to take on fellow rising featherweight contender Ilia Topuria at UFC 282.

The fight has flown under the radar, with the likes of Paddy Pimblett on the card and the injury drama surrounding the light heavyweight division attracting most of the attention.

'Thug Nasty' feels that a win over a tough opponent in Topuria won't do much for his career, as "no one cares."

Mitchell recently appeared on the Champ and The Tramp podcast, and said the following:

"He [Topuria] hits hard, and I think he’s pretty good on the ground, and it’s a good fight. It’s gonna get me a paycheck, and that’s great, I’m really happy. But is it gonna move me up in the ranks? No. I just beat Edson Barboza, and nobody gives a sh*t. When I beat this guy, nobody is gonna give a sh*t."

Bryce Mitchell is currently the No.9-ranked contender at featherweight, whereas Topuria is ranked five places below him. 'Thug Nasty' feels that a victory over a dangerous fighter such as Topuria would showcase his skill level but would not bump him up the rankings.

With both men undefeated in their professional MMA careers, they will enter the octagon full of confidence.
