Following months of verbal back and forths over social media, a potential grudge match between UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has become the talk of fight town lately.

However, even though fans are craving to see Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones throw down inside the Octagon, Adesanya claimed that the UFC hasn't yet offered him a fight against Jon Jones. Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones have been trading verbal jabs with each other for what seems like ages now, but the most recent incident where both fighters involved each other's families in the trash talk makes a potential fight between the pair seemingly inevitable.

Frankly, a high-profile matchup between Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya is definitely the fight to make. It would make an intriguing encounter. Both fighters are undefeated inside the Octagon (barring Jones' DQ loss) and although Jones looked a little bit on the wane against the likes of Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes, the fact that Adesanya has to move up a weight class makes it a very difficult mountain to climb for the Nigerian born Kiwi, because his opponent has already cleared the whole 205lbs division and is still standing tall. Added to that, the fact that bad blood makes big bucks and the stellar resume as well as the popularity of both fighters, there is no reason why the matchmakers wouldn't cash in on this huge opportunity.

"Jon Jones fight hasn't been offered to me", says Israel Adesanya

If the fight does come to fruition, it has the potential to become one of the greatest fights in UFC history, if not the biggest and Israel Adesanya believes the same. However, during an interview with MMA Junkie, Adesanya said that he has not yet been offered the contract to fight Jon Jones but if and when the offer pops up, he is more than willing to grab it.

“Where’s the contract?” Adesanya said. “I’ve never been offered this fight, so it’s like where’s this contract that everyone likes to bring up? Paulo said the same thing, ‘Sign the contract.’ What contract mother(expletive)? I just whipped your a**, bad. Double-tap. Easy. Everyone is saying, ‘Sign the contract. Sign the contract.’ I don’t think these people know how contracts work. You have to get a contract before you sign. But yeah, cheddar makes it better. That’s a big fight.”
