Who is competing in the welterweight and featherweight PFL World Championship finals? Everything you need to know after last night's event
The 2024 PFL World Championship finals in welterweight and featherweight divisions are officially set after an impressive display at last night's event in Washington, D.C. After a tough regular season and playoffs, Shamil Musaev, Magomed Umalatov, Timur Khizriev and Brendan Loughnane will compete in the final of their respective divisions.
The tournament is regarded as one of the most difficult in sports due to the quick turnaround between fights. The annual World Championship event is the culmination of the regular season and playoffs, where the winners compete for the championship and $1 million grand prize.
Loughnane closed the show by earning a hard fought split-decision win over Kai Kamaka to book his place in the finals. He will be in for a tough challenge as he will take on Khizriev, who kept his unbeaten record intact by earning a split decision win over Gabriel Braga in his semi-final matchup.
In the co-main event, Umalatov earned a unanimous decision win over former Bellator welterweight title challenger Neiman Gracie to advance to the finals. He will take on Musaev, who kicked off the night by also earning a unanimous decision win over Murad Ramazanov.

Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira face-off in the PFL SmartCage
The PFL continues to ramp up their promotion for the upcoming heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira as they had the two face-off in the SmartCage during last night's event.
It was recently announced that the former UFC heavyweight champion will be making his promotion debut against last year's heavyweight world champion on Oct. 19 in Saudi Arabia. Ferreira is riding plenty of momentum as he earned a TKO win over Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader this past February.
Ngannou, on the other hand, will be competing in an MMA bout for the first time since his unanimous decision win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in 2022.
