Pattyson is considered to be the reason behind Gastelum's improved nutrition. Kelvin Gastelum used to compete as a welterweight, but due to missing weight more than once, the 32-year-old made a shift to the middleweight division.

Pattyson also helped Gastelum prepare for his fight against Ian Heinisch at UFC 258, which he won via a unanimous decision. Kelvin Gastelum's relationship status as of 2023 is not known.

Kelvin Gastelum is set to return to the welterweight division

Kelvin Gastelum started his UFC career in the middleweight division when he defeated Urijah Hall in the Season 17 finale of The Ultimate Fighter tournament. However, he moved down to welterweight for subsequent bouts and amassed a respectable 5-2 record in the division. He holds wins over respectable opponents like Jake Ellenberger and former champion Johny Hendricks at welterweight.

However, Gastelum moved up to middleweight and found success there as well. He was scheduled to fight for the undisputed UFC middleweight title against Robert Whittaker at UFC 234. However, Whittaker had to pull out of the fight due to a serious health issue.

Gastelum fought Israel Adesanya for the interim UFC middleweight title at UFC 236 and gave him the toughest fight of his career before anyone could hand 'The Last Stylebender' a loss in the UFC.

Kelvin Gastelum lost the fight via unanimous decision after five hard-fought rounds. However, it proved to be his last great performance in the division as the 32-year-old went on a 2-5 skid at middleweight, losing crucial contests against the likes of Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier, and Darren Till.

Gastelum is now set to make a welterweight comeback in 2023. He will fight wrestling powerhouse Sean Brady at the UFC Austin event that is scheduled to take place on December 2, 2023. The event will be held at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

Sean Brady is currently ranked ninth in the UFC welterweight division. A potential win over him can fast-track Gastelum's entry in the rankings.
