Why does Dana White back Callum Walsh? The Irish boxer's POV on relationship with UFC CEO

Callum Walsh is undeniably among the fastest-rising boxers today, and the Irish sensation has caught the eye of some of the biggest names in combat sports. One of the most prominent personalities to back Walsh is UFC CEO Dana White, who met the 23-year-old through veteran boxing promoter Tom Loeffler.

Over the past few years, White has shown Walsh immense love and even gave him spots on UFC Fight Pass after meeting him in Las Vegas. White also regularly uses his social media platforms to promote the Irishman and has missed no opportunities to praise his boxing skills and tenacity.

Given that White has taken a shine to Walsh, many have wondered what the UFC supremo sees in the young pugilist. During a recent interview with Aaron Bronsteter for Sportsnet, Walsh shared some insight as to why White was so impressed with him and said:

"You know, it's the way I fight. I have the same mentality as the UFC, it's like, the best fight the best. There's no easy route. In boxing, there's a lot of different ways you can go to avoid difficult fights, but I don't wanna do that. I want to fight the best fighters and be the best fighter in the world by beating the best fighters in the world. That's why Dana likes me, and that's why he's excited about me as a boxer." Walsh is now set to face Przemyslaw Runowski in a WBC Continental Americas super welterweight title fight at the 3Arena in Dublin this weekend. This would mark Walsh's first professional bout on home soil, and he's got the opportunity to extend his undefeated streak to 12-0.
