“You can't always do that” - Danial Williams admits standing to trade in the middle of the ring is risky business

Australian-Thai firecracker and former ONE world title challenger 'Mini T' Danial Williams has finally learned a very important lesson deep into his professional fighting career -- maybe trading in his trademark all-action style for a more tactical approach is a good idea.

'Mini T' is known for his non-stop aggression and pedal to the metal pace. But against young Chinese star 'The Prince' Banma Duoji at ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video a few weeks ago, Williams learned that he could use technique to outsmart opponents too.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Williams said:

"So I just want to show the skills and put on an absolute highlight reel because the last few MMA fights, I just wanted to stay in the middle and trade with someone. And you can't always do that depending on the fighter you are up against in MMA."

As for the next step in his career, 'Mini T' is eyeing a return to 'the art of eight limbs' for his next contest. He said:

"I just love Muay Thai fighting because I haven't stopped training in that sport. I think I'm still the very, very best at the top level."

ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Prime Video took place live at the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday, October 5.

Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action via replay on-demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Danial Williams gives props to young opponent Banma Duoji: "I just felt he was quite strong"

'Mini T' Danial Williams may have used his veteran experience and savvy to trump 'The Prince' Banma Duoji at ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video. But he says it wasn't an easy fight by any means.

He gave credit to Duoji, in particular, for giving him a stiff challenge. Williams said:

"I thought compared to his last fight, he was doing a lot of takedowns against a Muay Thai styled-fighter. So I was expecting him [to do that]. But he’s big, man. He missed weight and I just felt he was quite strong."
