"You feel like you're part of the production" - Jarred Brooks lauds ONE Championship's pageantry through its world-class events
Jarred Brooks doesn't see himself fighting for any other combat sports promotion in the world if it's not ONE Championship.
The interim strawweight MMA world champion recently lauded the home of martial arts for always treating him like a first-class athlete.
Unlike other promotions Brooks has fought for in the past, he says that ONE is uniquely transparent with all their athletes. For instance, they don't keep you in the dark about how they arrange things backstage before hosting the next big event.
Speaking on the BODYSLAM.NET podcast this week, 'The Monkey God' said:
"While in ONE Championship, they're very open. We're gonna do this, we're gonna do that. This is the game plan, you know. You feel like you're part of the production which is really cool. I used to act, I was in Theatre my whole life. So doing that, being part of that, is really cool."
Check out Jarred Brooks' response below (21:35):
The 31-year-old superstar is feeling a lot happier this year after winning the division's interim belt this past August. He defeated Cuban rising star Gustavo Balart in less than a round to renew his tug-of-war rivalry with current ONE strawweight MMA world champion, 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio.
"I am heartbroken I didn't get a chance to go at him" - Jarred Brooks laments Demetrious Johnson's retirement from mixed martial arts
Jarred Brooks laments not being able to compete against Demetrious Johnson after 'Mighty Mouse' gave up his 135-pound crown earlier this month.
Brooks always dreamed about fighting the best flyweight of all time as soon as he got hold of his ONE strawweight MMA world title back in December 2022. The thought of becoming a two-sport world champion was too good of an idea to give up. Unfortunately, time ran out.
Sharing his thoughts about Johnson's shocking retirement at ONE 168: Denver on Instagram, 'The Monkey God' wrote:
"Happy retirement to the greatest mized martial artist of all time. I am truly thankful for everything he has displayed in his career, and gave people like me a reason to start. I am heartbroken I didn't get a chance to go at with him and share the circle."
