"You just never know, right?" - Danial Williams admits feeling anxious after going the distance with Banma Duoji
Danial Williams came into ONE Fight Night 25 in big need of a win to get himself back in the right column. 'Mini T' has always been a fighter who is down to step in and face anyone at any place and at any time.
However, getting his hand raised is still incredibly important to him and he was without a win in his last four outings before Oct. 4. In a catchweight MMA contest, he got his hand raised in a close fight against Banma Duoji at Lumpinee Stadium.
The fight played out as a striking contest which you would expect Williams to get the better of considering his high-level background. This was the case but there was some cause for concern during the wait for the scorecards because of how competitive the fight was.
Williams spoke about this in a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA:
"I was confident, but you just never know, right? You just never know what the judges were looking at. But I was confident that I just had the better shot so I controlled the pace. Just hold the center - that was the game plan to hold the center. And yeah, I just felt like controlled it everywhere, really."
Danial Williams is happy to be back with a win
It may have been a close fight but Danial Williams is happy to have secured the victory by any means necessary. Now he can look to build on this win but a change in the ruleset could be coming in his next fight.
Williams has always been someone who has drifted between the worlds of MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. Having spoken about how hard this is to do in the past, it looks like Muay Thai may become his primary focus going forward where plenty of big fights await him.
