โYou put your gi onโ - Mikey Musumeci honored to train with Demetrious Johnson ahead of world title challenge vs Kade Ruotolo
Mikey Musumeci received some unexpected help during his training camp for ONE 168: Denver.
The reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion was back at it with his two-gym training camp when he trained with MMA legend Demetrious Johnson in Las Vegas.
Johnson, the ONE flyweight MMA world champion, suddenly visited Faito Tamashii Combat Club (FTCC) and rolled with Musumeci in Las Vegas.
Musumeci often trains under Rubens 'Cobrinha' Charles at Cobrinha Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Fitness in Los Angeles, but he also rolls at FTCC in his hometown to complement his training camp.
In an Instagram Story, Musumeci wrote that Johnson wanted to roll with him in the gi.
Ever the wholesome person he is, 'Darth Rigatoni' gladly granted Johnson's request.
"When the ๐ of MMA wants to train gi, you put your gi on ๐๐ WHAT AN HONOR TO TRAIN WITH HIM ๐ญโค๏ธ"
Musumeci is preparing for his world title challenge against ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 at Ball Arena.
Already considered one of the greatest BJJ artists of his generation, Musumeci's impending super fight against Ruotolo could be this decade's biggest submission grappling match.
Mikey Musumeci was a five-time BJJ world champion before he joined ONE Championship in 2022, and he's since built a perfect 7-0 promotional record along with five submission wins to his name.
Ruotolo, meanwhile, is the inaugural ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion and also won gold under the ADCC, Eddie Bravo Invitational, and Who's Number One.
Tickets for ONE 168 are available at Ticketmaster.
