"You're going to get Liam Harrison's Muay Mat style" - 'Hitman' vows to display trademark aggression in comeback duel
Liam Harrison is ready to turn back the clock and dish out another high-octane performance when he makes his hotly-anticipated return at ONE 167.
That evening, the multi-time world champion squares off against Japanese upstart Katsuki Kitano in a bantamweight Muay Thai duel. The action gets underway inside the Impact Arena on June 7.
'Hitman's journey to his comeback fight has been one filled with challenges. But in the face of despair, the 38-year-old legend took it upon himself to ensure he comes back better than ever.
Now, just seven days out from his first appearance on the global stage in almost two years, the Bad Company acknowledges that his fitness level and confidence are at their peak, to the extent that he promises a trademark display of aggression with a slight mix of thrills when the bell sounds off in Bangkok, Thailand.
Speaking to ONE Championship, Liam Harrison offered:
"You're going to get Liam Harrison's Muay Mat style: hard punches, hard kicks, walking forward, and there'll be a bit of action and a bit of drama, I'm sure."
Though he guarantees a bit of a plot twist before he gets his hand raised, it'll certainly be hard to top his epic come-from-behind win over Muangthai PK Saenchai at ONE 156 in April 2022.
'Hitman' was staring at the face of defeat after being knocked down twice by the Thai slugger slightly over a minute into the contest. However, time stood still for the battle-tested veteran, as he gained three quickfire knockdowns on his way to a TKO win at 2:19 of the opening round.
Following that emphatic display, he took on Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title where he suffered several injuries to his knee that kept him out of action since August 2022.
Liam Harrison vows to 'hurt' Katsuki Kitano at ONE 167
Liam Harrison is more than prepared to go toe-to-toe with Katsuki Kitano when they get locked inside the Circle next Friday, June 7.
In case, the Japanese slugger underestimates what may come his way on fight night, the Leeds slugger, in the same interview with the promotion, added:
"I'm going to come forward, get him on his back foot, and I'm going to hurt him."
ONE 167 will be available to all active Amazon Prime Video subscribers for free.
