“You’re gonna see some very cool things” - Jarred Brooks says he has a few tricks in store for Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks plans to showcase "some very cool things" against Gustavo Balart.
Later this week, Brooks will return to action for the first time since losing his ONE strawweight MMA world title by disqualification. Luckily for him, he has an opportunity to regain ONE gold when he faces number three-ranked Balart for the interim strawweight MMA strap in the ONE Fight Night 24 main event.
Brooks and Balart are battling for the interim throne due to Joshua Pacio suffering a torn ACL in training. The winner of Friday night's headliner is expected to face Pacio for the undisputed throne once he's fully recovered from his injury.
During an interview with FightWave, Brooks discussed his upcoming fight against Balart and had this to say about his general game plan:
"If I were to fight Sean O’Malley, I’m probably gonna try and take him down and then hit him up against the cage, right? This guy, I’m gonna fight him like Sean O’Malley. You’re gonna see some very cool things comin’ out of woodworks."
ONE Fight Night 24 will represent the promotional's latest event inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The August 2 fight card can be seen live and for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Gustavo Balart looks to overcome career-defining challenge against Jarred Brooks
Gustavo Balart made his ONE Championship debut in April 2019. The Cuban strawweight struggled at the start of his promotional tenure, suffering three consecutive losses. Since then, 'El Gladiator' has bounced back with a four-fight win streak, all by decision.
At ONE Fight Night 24, Balart can complete his comeback story and solidify his name in the promotion's record books. It'll be easier said than done, as Jarred Brooks is focused on emerging victorious and setting up a must-see trilogy bout against Joshua Pacio for the undisputed world title.
Brooks and Balart have much to lose on Friday night, so it'll be intriguing to see who leaves Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with ONE gold.
