“You’re holding yourself back” - Jarred Brooks says mastering emotions as a fighter is key to taming the beast
Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion and current first-ranked contender 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States admits he's an emotional fighter, always riding high with adrenaline and fervor in the cage.
The 31-year-old Mash Fight Team representative says that the key to his success has always been mastering those emotions and controlling himself in order to channel his energy towards victory.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Brooks talked about the importance of staying true to yourself as a fighter, embracing your nature, and unlocking your full potential.
'The Monkey God' said:
"Yeah, you have to. If you push yourself into a corner with your emotions, then you're not going to be able to strive for greatness at the end of the day. Because like I said, you're holding yourself back and you're taking away from what you're supposed to be. If you're not truthful to yourself, then how are you going to be truthful to people that you love and people that you want to admire you? Right."
Brooks is getting ready to return to action this week, when he gets another opportunity to capture the coveted ONE Championship gold.
