Georges St-Pierre says Conor McGregor's trash-talk against Khabib Nurmagomedov wasn't wrong

Georges St-Pierre weighed in on Conor McGregor's trash-talk against Khabib Nurmagomedov in the leadup to their lightweight title fight at UFC 229 in 2018.

During his appearance on Full Send Podcast, St-Pierre defended the Irishman for the comments he made to promote the fight. He mentioned that there are no rules pertaining to trash-talk and promoting a fight and believes that fighters should do a better job at shielding their personal life from their professional life.

He said:

"Look what happens sometime when they talk about other guy's family, now it gets bad. I think it crosses a line but there's no rules, it's a fight game, you can die out there. People will do anything to get to you...You don't wanna expose your weakness. This is the fight game, you never wanna expose your weakness. [1:08 - 1:41]

'GSP' also brought up that when fighters begin to expose their private life, they are also essentially showing their weakness to their opponent. He mentioned that some fighters will find any way possible to get in their opponent's head and targeting their personal life can be a way to achieve that, saying:

"Some guys that will do everything to make you lose your mind, they will cross that line...Everybody's different and there's no wrong to do this. Some people, they show their private life and stuff they expose, but when you do that, you put your card on the table, man." [1:45 - 2:12]

St-Pierre made a valid point as McGregor's trash-talk was clearly effective because Nurmagomedov started a brawl after submitting him.
