"You will be ready for sure" - Famed trainer Coach Jack Samui puts Jonathan Haggerty to the wringer ahead of ONE 168: Denver
The intense preparation of two-sport world champion Jonathan Haggerty for his upcoming megafight with Superlek Kiatmoo9 on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver continues to ramp up.
One of the coaches who ensures that the ONE bantamweight kickboxing and ONE Muay Thai world champion is ready for this gigantic showdown is Coach Jack Samui, as he recently posted an Instagram video of Haggerty's preparation.
The famed Thai striking coach posted the clip alongside the caption, which read (translated to English):
"Getting better every day, 9 weeks left, definitely ready. Jonathan Haggerty 👑🇬🇧💪🏻 @lamaimuaythairalph, @jhaggerty_, @kenziedraperx, @freddiehaggerty_, @teamundergroundmma, @knowles.christianstrikingcoach, @primo_fightwear, @onechampionship"
In the video, 'The General' was seen practicing his combinations, with Samui holding the pads.
Haggerty aims to land one of these strikes against 'The Kicking Machine' to successfully defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai championship inside Denver's Ball Arena.
The 27-year-old British superstar is currently riding a six-fight winning streak.
His latest triumph was against heated rival Felipe Lobo in February 2024 at ONE Fight Night 19, when he TKO'd the Brazilian striker in the third round of their world title match.
Jonathan Haggerty wants to record his second successive world title defense against Superlek at ONE 168: Denver
Now that he has all the momentum he needs heading into the match with Superlek, Jonathan Haggerty is looking to defend his 26-pound golden belt for the second time against his former tormentor.
Haggerty and Superlek previously fought each other in 2018 before they signed with the world's largest martial arts organization, and the latter won their first encounter via a doctor's stoppage.
Six years later, Haggerty is now looking to even their head-to-head score and prevent the Thai superstar from becoming a two-sport and a two-division world champion.
ONE 168: Denver will air live from the Ball Arena at U.S. primetime on Sept. 6. Tickets for the event are now available on sale on Ticketmaster.
