Sean Strickland and Jared Cannonier joke back and forth at their face off

There's no animosity between Sean Strickland and Jared Cannonier, who are scheduled to compete in the main event of UFC Fight Night 216 this Saturday. The two joked back and forth during their face off earlier today after successfully making weight for their bout.

'Tarzan' and 'The Killa Gorilla' will be looking to bounce back from their respective losses and get back into the middleweight title picture. After making weight, the two were brought out for their face-off and photo op, where they shared a laugh:

Sean: "Do we look at each other?"

Jared: "We'll scare the sh*t out of each other."

Sean: "You already scare me, don't worry about that."

The Cannonier vs. Strickland faceoff at #UFCVegas66 had all the banter. 😂

The middleweight contenders will close out 2022 for the UFC as Fight Night 216 is the final event of the calendar year for the MMA juggernaught. Cannonier is currently the No.3 ranked middleweight, coming off his title fight loss to former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Meanwhile, Strickland is coming off a devastating knockout loss to reigning middleweight champion Alex Pereira.

Sean Strickland is the betting favorite against Jared Cannonier

Despite their respective rankings in the UFC middleweight division, Sean Strickland is the betting favorite against Jared Cannonier for their main event clash at UFC Fight Night 216.

Both fighters were riding impressive winning streaks prior to their respective losses at UFC 276. 'The Killa Gorilla' has back-to-back wins against Kelvin Gastelum and Derek Brunson, while 'Tarzan' was riding a 6 fight winning streak that included wins against the likes of Uriah Hall and Jack Hermansson.

Age could also possibly be a factor in why betting odds are what they are. Strickland is 31-years-old and in the prime of his career, while his adversary is 38-years-old.

During his pre-fight media availability, 'The Killa Gorilla' was asked what advice he would give others in a similar situation who may have come up short from achieving their goals. He responded by mentioning that maintaining a healthy mindset ultimately helps, saying:

"If you're beating yourself up then you're not neccessarily focusing on learning from whatever took place. So, all my losses, they suck. And sometimes I cry, sometimes I'm mad, frustrated, but not for long. I try my very best not to stay in those states of mind for very long because unless I'm getting a solution out of it, it's not gonna serve me." {15:16 - 15:42}
