BREAKING: UFC "mistakenly" announces Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane heavyweight title fight for March 4

It appears that Jon Jones' heavyweight debut is less than two months away from becoming a reality. T-Mobile Arena announced Jones vs. Ciryl Gane as a heavyweight title fight for UFC 285 on March 4.

It's interesting to note that the bout is being promoted as a heavyweight title fight as opposed to an interim title fight. That could signify that Francis Ngannou either notified the promotion that he's signing elsewhere or wants more time to weigh his options.

'Bones' vs. 'Bon Gamin' is an excellent alternative because MMA fans will finally get to see how the former light heavyweight champion performs against a larger opponent with elite striking. Gane also moves very well for somebody his size, which could pose a threat.

The 35-year-old will have an advantage with his superior grappling and might be confident with his chances of securing takedowns. Ngannou, who is known for his striking ability, was able to outwrestle Gane and control him on the ground.

'Bones' will have an opportunity to join the list of fighters to become a two-division champion in the UFC.

Jon Jones will be competing for the first time since 2020

It will be interesting to see how Jon Jones performs in his octagon return at UFC 285, especially considering he hasn't fought in three years.

'Bones' last competed at UFC 247 on February 8, 2020, where he earned a controversial split decision against Dominick Reyes and successfully retained his light heavyweight championship. Months later, he relinquished the title and committed to moving up to heavyweight.

The 35-year-old will be in for a tough test as he hasn't competed at heavyweight before and his debut in the weight division comes after a lengthy layoff as opposed to when he was active.
