The best knockout victories at ONE on Prime Video this year

ONE Championship’s partnership with Amazon Prime Video has been an absolute hit, figuratively and literally. Since the promotion’s ONE on Prime Video debut in August, fans have been treated to some of the biggest finishes in promotional history, leading to shocking upsets and new world champions. We take a look at the best and most brutal knockouts on Prime Video in 2022.

#4. - Christian Lee becomes a two-division world champion

Fresh off his win over Ok Rae Yoon to reclaim the lightweight world championship, Christian Lee stepped back into the circle to challenge Kiamrian Abbasov for the welterweight crown. Stepping up a weight class, many felt that the size difference would be too much for Lee to overcome.

That almost proved to be true as Lee was nearly finished in the opening round after Abbasov opened up with a barrage of brutal blows that had ‘The Warrior’ reeling, but as the Lee family often does, he endured.

Surviving past the first round, Christian Lee began to slowly take over before putting Abbasov on the mat with a big takedown in the fourth round. From there, Lee mounted the big man and reigned down a series of elbows, forcing the referee to step in and call for a stoppage.

#3. - Demetrious Johnson captures the flyweight title

In April 2021, Demetrious Johnson suffered the first knockout loss of his mixed martial arts career against then-flyweight world champion Adriano Moraes. 16 months later, ‘Mighty Mouse’ got his revenge in spectacular fashion. Stepping into the circle for the first-ever ONE on Prime Video main event, Johnson looked sharp as ever in his second opportunity to become a ONE world champion.

With just over a minute to go in the fourth round, Johnson landed a solid right that connected cleanly, sending Moraes stumbling back towards the fence. Timing it perfectly, Johnson threw a flying knee that caught Moraes on the chin, instantly putting his lights out. It was sweet revenge for the pound-for-pound great, who suffered a similar fate in their first meeting.

#2. - Nong-O Gaiyanghadao makes quick work of Liam Harrison

Muay Thai legend and 7-time bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao defended his title in spectacular fashion in the ONE on Prime Video 1 co-main event on August 26.

Stepping into the circle against dangerous British striker Liam ‘Hitman’ Harrison, many believed that Harrison’s frenetic style of fighting might be enough to upset Nong-O who, to this day, has never lost inside the circle.

Coming out for the opening round, Nong-O immediately began working on Harrison's lead leg, chopping away at it with heavy calf kicks. Two minutes into the first round, Nong-O delivered a brutal leg kick connecting with Harrison’s knee, dropping him instantly. Harrison was given a 10-count, but it was clear from the moment he dropped that the fight was over.

It was a disappointing end for Harrison, but another spectacular finish for Nong-O Gaiyanghadao who secured his 264th career victory.

#1. - Anatoly Malykhin shocks ‘The Dutch Knight’ Reinier de Ridder

Russian juggernaut Anatoly Malykhin delivered perhaps the most shocking knockout of the year at ONE on Prime Video 5. Despite stepping into the main event with the interim heavyweight title and an undefeated record, many counted Malykhin out against ‘The Dutch Knight’ Reinier de Ridder, who put his light heavyweight championship on the line in the main event showdown.

De Ridder entered the bout as an undefeated two-division world champion who had practically walked through every opponent with his world-class Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills. Malykhin’s biggest key to victory was staying on his feet where he would have an undeniable advantage. ‘Sladkiy’ did exactly that, successfully defending each one of the Dutchman’s takedown attempts while lighting him up on the feet.

With less than a minute to go in the first round, Malykhin landed a massive right hand that sent Reinier de Ridder crashing to the mat. Smelling blood in the water, Anatoly Malykhin dropped a series of hammer fists until the Dutchman’s lights had gone out. The victory moved Malykhin to 4-0 inside the Circle and 12-0 overall.
